Writer: Laurel Lai, FiFi Yeh Translator: Rita Chen Founded in 1964 and located atop the Niagara Escarpment in St. Catharines, Brock University is one of the top 10 integrated universities in Canada. President Jong-Tsun Huang of China Medical University (CMU), together with a team of professors, visited Brock University for substantial cooperation in Summer 2007 to initiate summer academic study programs with Brock University. After the Memorandum of Understanding was signed in 2008, many students here were sent to Brock University to pursue short-term study during summer time in 2008 and 2009. Since the program was very popular with the students here, Center for International Affairs (CIA) will organize it again in the coming Summer. On March 23th 2010, China Medical University invited Professor Glenwood Irons, Director of International Market Department, to advocate the Professional Enhancement and Cross-cultural Program in Summer 2010. This program emphasizes English training in health sciences and enhancement of community medicine knowledge. The topics covered will be about diseases and treatments. In addition to classes, there will also be hospital tours and cross-culture events. Around 20 students attended the discussion meeting with Professor Irons, and most of them were from School of Medicine. Because of Dr. Irons's strong sense of humor, the meeting has been very enjoyable and ended in applause and a roar of laughter.
