PODA Workplace Potential Workshop Empowers Students to Discover Their Personalities and Explore Future Career Paths
To help international students gain a deeper understanding of their personalities and prepare for their future careers, the Office of Global Affairs held the PODA Workplace Potential Workshop. Through an engaging animal-based personality assessment, the workshop encouraged students to identify their strengths, recognize potential blind spots, and explore how their individual traits could be applied in the workplace.
The workshop introduced five animal personality types: Tiger, Dolphin, Honey Bee, Octopus, and Penguin. Through clear explanations and interactive facilitation, the instructor explored the characteristics, behavioral patterns, and potential strengths associated with each type. Students learned how personality traits can influence communication styles, interpersonal relationships, teamwork, and career choices. By reviewing their assessment results and participating in guided discussions, they gained fresh perspectives on their own personalities and developed a greater awareness of their individual characteristics.
Beyond identifying personality types, the workshop emphasized the practical application of personality insights. Students explored how to make better use of their strengths, recognize areas for personal growth, and work more effectively with people who have different personalities. These insights can support more informed career planning, smoother workplace adaptation, and stronger professional relationships as students prepare to enter the workforce.
Feedback from participants was positive, particularly regarding the relevance of the assessment results and the engaging nature of the session. Many students found that their results closely reflected their personalities and behaviors, making the experience both insightful and personally meaningful. The instructor’s lively and interactive approach, combined with the interesting workshop materials, helped create an enjoyable learning environment. Students also appreciated the opportunity to explore different personality types and consider how their individual strengths could be harnessed when making future career decisions.
Overall, the PODA Workplace Potential Workshop provided students with a valuable opportunity for self-discovery and career exploration. By developing a better understanding of themselves and appreciating differences in others, participants gained practical insights that can help them navigate future workplace challenges with greater confidence and awareness.
The Office of Global Affairs will continue to promote career development and personal growth initiatives to help students recognize their potential, strengthen their workplace readiness, and build a solid foundation for their future careers.
