Unraveling Chinese Medicine’s Complexity Through Precision Science: 22nd CGCM Annual Meeting Held at China Medical University
The 22nd Meeting of the Consortium for Globalization of Chinese Medicine (CGCM 2026) was held from July 25 to 27 at China Medical University. The three-day event brought together 635 experts, clinicians, industry representatives, and young researchers from Taiwan and around the world. A total of 390 research abstracts were accepted, with more than 120 scholars delivering oral presentations and 221 research studies presented as posters, highlighting the growing momentum of global research in Chinese medicine.
Centered on the scientific advancement, modernization, and globalization of Chinese medicine, this year’s meeting focused on the integration of traditional medicine with modern biomedical science. Discussions explored how scientific approaches can deepen our understanding of Chinese medicine and facilitate the translation of research findings into clinical applications.
A key concept of the meeting was “WE Medicine.” W stands for West and E for East; when Western and Eastern medicine truly come together, they form “WE Medicine,” a healthcare approach centered on patients and holistic health. Through dialogue and collaboration between Eastern and Western medicine, the meeting explored how their respective strengths can be integrated to create new possibilities for the future of integrative healthcare.
With Chinese medicine as the foundation of its founding, China Medical University has continued to integrate research and clinical resources and promote interdisciplinary collaboration between Chinese medicine and modern medicine. As the host of the 22nd CGCM Annual Meeting, CMU became the fourth institution in Taiwan to host the event, welcoming researchers from around the world and showcasing Taiwan’s strengths in Chinese medicine research, education, and clinical development.
Through three days of academic exchange and international dialogue, the meeting brought together global research communities in Chinese medicine and laid a foundation for future international collaboration and the translation of research into practice. CGCM will continue to promote the scientific validation of Chinese medicine and international collaboration, helping traditional wisdom reach the world through the support of modern science.
