OGA Enhances Faculty and Staff Capacity in Addressing Gender Equality Issues Involving International Students
To enhance faculty and staff members’ awareness of gender equality issues involving international students and strengthen their ability to respond to related incidents, as well as to foster a supportive and gender-friendly campus environment, the Office of Global Affairs, in collaboration with the Gender Equity Education Committee, organized a seminar entitled “Introduction to Gender Equality Regulations and Case Studies” on June 5, 2026. The event brought together faculty and staff members to deepen their understanding of gender equality regulations and the University's response mechanisms through professional presentations and practical experience sharing.
The seminar featured an expert from National Cheng Kung University with extensive experience in handling gender equity affairs and serving on gender equity committees. Having participated in the resolution of numerous gender-related cases involving international students, the speaker possesses substantial expertise in the application of relevant regulations, incident reporting procedures, and cross-cultural communication. Through case studies and detailed explanations of response procedures, participants gained a deeper understanding of the gender equality issues that international students may encounter while studying in Taiwan, as well as the principles and procedures that universities should follow when addressing such incidents.
In addition, staff members from the University's Gender Equity Education Committee introduced the University's internal reporting, case acceptance, and follow-up procedures, as well as the support resources available on campus. This enabled participants to better understand interdepartmental collaboration and administrative support mechanisms. Through this seminar, faculty and staff not only strengthened their professional knowledge of gender equality issues but also enhanced cross-unit cooperation, contributing to the creation of a safe, inclusive, diverse, and welcoming campus environment. The event also demonstrated the University's ongoing commitment to promoting gender equality education and fostering an internationalized campus culture.
