The seminar “From Cultural Differences to Mutual Respect : Gender Equality Awareness for International Students” enhanced international students’ understanding of gender equality issues.
To enhance international students' awareness of gender equality issues and improve their understanding of relevant regulations in Taiwan as well as the university's reporting and handling procedures, this Gender Equality Education Seminar was organized. An external expert with extensive experience serving on Gender Equality Committees was invited to share practical knowledge through legal introductions, case studies, and real-life experiences. The seminar covered common types of gender-related incidents on campus, gender equality regulations, and the reporting and response procedures available to students, helping participants better understand their rights and responsibilities.
During the seminar, students actively engaged with the content and raised questions regarding gender interactions and cultural differences. Through the discussion of practical cases, the speaker encouraged students to reflect on how to build respectful, equal, and appropriate interpersonal relationships while increasing their awareness of sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and campus safety issues. The event not only strengthened international students' understanding of gender equality and self-protection but also enhanced their knowledge of the support services and resources available on campus, contributing to a safer, more inclusive, and welcoming campus environment.
