Strengthening Taiwan–U.S. Higher Education Ties: Fulbright IEA Delegation Visits China Medical University

To enhance practical exchanges and academic collaboration between Taiwan and the United States in higher education, a delegation from the Fulbright International Education Administrators (IEA) program visited China Medical University on March 16.

The delegation consisted of 16 senior administrators and distinguished professors from leading U.S. universities. The group was accompanied by Ms. Lisa Lin, Senior Program Director at the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (Fulbright Taiwan).

Dean of Global Affairs, Professor Liang-Yo Yang, delivered welcoming remarks and introduced CMU’s recent achievements in global academic rankings and international partnerships. Professor Yen-Liang Liu then presented the latest research developments at the Cancer Biology and Precision Therapeutics Center. Academician Lu-Hai Wang also introduced the Chinese Medicine Research Center, highlighting its integration of traditional and modern medical approaches as a model for the modernization of Chinese medicine.

The afternoon program focused on medical technology applications and international collaboration. The delegation visited the Proton Therapy Center, as well as key laboratories in the Biomedical Industry-Academia R&D Building, including the CMU-NVIDIA Joint Laboratory and the Kyoto University–CMU On-Site Laboratory. These visits showcased the university’s strengths in AI-driven healthcare and global research collaboration.

The delegation included vice presidents, deans, and international affairs leaders from various U.S. institutions. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on international student support, research development, and potential future collaborations. The visit left a strong impression on the Fulbright delegation and opened new opportunities for future partnerships.
