HSEU Delegation from Singapore Visits China Medical University and CMUH

A delegation from Singapore’s Healthcare Services Employees’ Union (HSEU) visited China Medical University (CMU) and China Medical University Hospital (CMUH) on February 6, 2026, for an exchange program focusing on healthcare development and clinical practice.

The visit began with welcome remarks delivered by Professor Liang-Yo Yang, Dean of Global Affairs at China Medical University and Dr. Wei-Cheng Chen, Chief Secretary of China Medical University Hospital.

During the exchange sessions, the HSEU delegation introduced the organization’s role and development vision, sharing its efforts to support healthcare workers in areas such as wages, welfare, and career development. CMUH representatives then shared their experience in healthcare services and innovation. Dr. Wei-Cheng Chen presented an overview of the hospital’s development as a smart hospital, while Dr. Sheng-Teng Huang introduced the integrated Western and Chinese medicine treatment model through clinical examples. In addition, Mr. Ching-Yao Chou, associate executive officer at CMUH, presented the HiThings Tele-ICU system, highlighting its application in clinical practice and remote critical care.

Mr. Wei-Cheng Chen then presented on “Smart Hospital Integrating Clinical Excellence and Biomedical Innovation,” outlining CMUH’s practical experience in the development of smart healthcare. In addition, Dr. Sheng-Teng Huang introduced the integrated Western and Chinese medicine treatment model, sharing clinical cases that combine the strengths of both medical systems. Mr. Ching-Yao Chou, Deputy Manager, presented the HiThings Tele-ICU system, demonstrating CMUH’s clinical applications of smart healthcare and tele-care services.

The program also included site visits to clinical and cultural facilities. The delegation visited the acupuncture and traumatology clinics of the Department of Chinese Medicine to learn about traditional Chinese medicine clinical practice, as well as the TCM Pharmacy to gain insight into herbal medicine dispensing and application. The visit concluded at the Lifu Museum of Chinese Medicine, where the delegation explored the history and development of Chinese medicine and experienced interactive exhibits such as the Dynamic 3D Human Meridian System and the 3D Acupuncture Human Body Model, gaining a deeper understanding of Chinese medical theory and its clinical applications.

This exchange facilitated professional interaction between the two sides in the areas of healthcare services, smart healthcare, and integrated Western and Chinese medicine, and laid a foundation for future international collaboration.
