International Students Enjoy the “Half-Day Lacquer Art Tour” and Experience Taiwanese Warmth
To help international students experience Taiwan’s rich traditional culture, the Office of Global Affairs organized the Half-Day Lacquer Art Tour on October 15 2025. The tour was conducted entirely in English and guided students through the historic Fengyuan area, where they explored local culture and enjoyed a hands-on lacquer art DIY workshop.
The students’favorite part of the event was the DIY lacquer chopsticks activity. Under the guidance of the instructors, each student polished and decorated their own pair of chopsticks, resulting in a unique color and texture. Through this creative process, they learned the beauty and patience behind Taiwan’s traditional craftsmanship.
During the visit, the Chairman of Fengyuan Cih Ji Temple kindly presented students with lucky gold coins, wishing them good fortune and safety. This thoughtful gesture deeply touched the participants, allowing them to truly feel the warmth and generosity of Taiwanese hospitality.
Many international students shared that the tour not only offered the joy of hands-on creativity, but also deepened their appreciation of Taiwan’s cultural heritage. The Office of Global Affairs will continue to organize similar cultural events in the future to help students integrate into local life and broaden their global perspectives.
