Strengthening International Academic Collaboration: President Mien-Chie Hung and Dean Liang-Yo Yang Visit Partner Universities in Vietnam

CMU President Mien-Chie Hung and Dean Liang-Yo Yang (Office of Global Affairs) visited two partner universities in Vietnam: University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City (UMP) and Hanoi University of Pharmacy (HUP). The visit focused on academic collaboration and included keynote lectures.

◆ University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City
President Hung and Dean Yang was warmly welcomed by UMP leaders, faculty, and students. President Hung shared suggestions for future collaboration and provided advice on enhancing the quality of UMP’s academic journals to support their inclusion in the SCI index. He then delivered a keynote lecture titled “Markers-Guided Targeted- and Immuno-therapy,” which drew keen interest from the audience. During the visit, Dean Yang also interviewed seven UMP lecturers who intend to pursue doctoral studies at CMU.

◆ Hanoi University of Pharmacy
At HUP, President Hung met with President Nguyen Hai Nam, Vice President Nguyen Tuyen, and their team to discuss potential collaboration. The two universities also renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to further deepen academic ties. President Hung gave the same keynote lecture, which sparked lively discussion, particularly on cancer drug development and immunotherapy. Following the lecture, Dean Yang interviewed two students who plan to apply for CMU’s master’s program in 2026.

This visit not only enhanced the Vietnamese universities’ understanding of CMU’s research strengths but also reinforced bilateral collaboration and attracted outstanding Vietnamese students to pursue advanced degrees at CMU.
