CMU School of Dentistry Strengthens International Ties through Academic and Cultural Exchange with Partners from Thailand and Indonesia
To promote international academic collaboration, student exchanges, and the advancement of dental education, the School of Dentistry at China Medical University (CMU) has recently engaged in extensive exchange activities with key partners in Southeast Asia - Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, and Hasanuddin University in Indonesia.
From June 2 to 6, 2024, the dental faculty of Chulalongkorn University visited CMU for the second time, showing the growing bond between the two universities. In addition to participating in academic courses and clinical observations, the visiting students were invited by the Office of Global Affairs to visit the Shuinan Campus, where they learned about CMU’s recent development and international collaborations. They also engaged in research topic discussions with CMU students, gaining insights into Taiwan’s dental education and research while building meaningful cross-cultural connections and friendships.
Meanwhile, from June 9 to 27, 2025, three third-year students from Hasanuddin University joined CMU for a three-week academic exchange. They also visited the Shuinan Campus, where the Office of Global Affairs introduced CMU’s history, academic achievements, and global partnerships. During their stay, the visiting students participated in research presentations, clinical shadowing, seminars, and hands-on sessions, including virtual reality (VR) dental simulations and 3D printing applications, broadening their perspectives on advanced dental technologies.
Through these multifaceted academic and cultural interactions, the visiting students not only gained an in-depth understanding of CMU’s dental education and research features, but also built strong connections with CMU faculty and students. They further enhanced their professional knowledge and practical skills, deepened their understanding of each other’s educational systems and cultural backgrounds, and laid a solid foundation for future collaborations.
The School of Dentistry at CMU remains committed to cultivating dental professionals with a global outlook and will continue to work closely with international partners to advance comprehensive development in education, clinical practice, and research.
