Legal Seminars on Employment and Residency for International and Overseas Chinese Students
To support international and overseas Chinese students in understanding Taiwan’s legal framework for post-graduation employment and residency, the Office of International Students Employment Counseling, the Office of Global Affairs hosted two online bilingual seminars on April 16 and April 22, 2025. The events were respectively organized for overseas Chinese and international students.
The keynote speaker was Megan Chiu, a Compliance Specialist at Winkler Partners, a prominent Taiwan-based law firm. Ms. Chiu provided in-depth explanations on four key topics: internships in Taiwan, work permits, extension of residency, and the Employment Gold Card. Drawing from practical experience, she outlined application requirements, common challenges, and useful strategies.
The seminar also addressed recent legal updates, including the amended regulation from December 2023 that allows international graduates to extend their ARC (Alien Resident Certificate) for up to two years. Additionally, the Employment Gold Card was highlighted as a flexible and comprehensive visa option that enables qualified foreign professionals to live, seek jobs, and work in Taiwan without needing a prior job offer.
The Office of International Students Employment Counseling will continue supporting international students in navigating post-graduation pathways and contributing to a more inclusive and talent-friendly environment in Taiwan.
