Introduction
Chitkara University is one of the premier Private Universities of North India. Chitkara University was set up under Section 2 of UGC Act 1956 by the Himachal Pradesh State Legislature under Himachal Pradesh Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act 2006. The Act has been notified through Government of Himachal Pradesh Gazette Notification No. EDN-A-Gha 6/2006 dated April 29, 2008. Approved by the University Grants Commission under section 2 of the UGC Act, the university commenced academic activities from September 2008.
Based out of Chandigarh (Around 45 minutes flight from Delhi), Chitkara University is currently offering 25 full time degree programs in diverse academic fields of Engineering, Management, Healthcare, Hospitality, Architecture, Media and Pharmaceutical Sciences. With almost 10,000 full time students and more than 600 tenured faculty members, most of the Chitkara University's academic programs are consistently ranked within top 50 in the country.
