State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the People’s Republic of China Visited CMU

Author: Laurel Lai Translator: Ashlen Weng State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the People’s Republic of China was founded in 1955. The function of the organization is to organize how to train TCM medical professionals, do academic research, exploit the technology and protect intellectual property. Jianwei Lu, Director of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the People’s Republic of China, together with Zhimin Wang, Director of Institute of Chinese Materia Medica, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences and Yuesheng Wang, the researcher of Institute of Chinese Materia Medica, were invited by DOH (Department of Health, Executive Yuan, R.O.C Taiwan) to participate in the “Symposium of TCM academic exchange between Cross-Strait in 2009” and visit CMU on Aug 26, 2009. The purpose of the visit was to exchange the experience about TCM education and training approaches. Prof. Ying-Shiung Lee, Vice-President of CMU was the chair and Prof. Yuan-Shiun Chang was the host. During the meeting, the participants discussed how to enhance TCM professional training. After the meeting, Bih-Cheng Chen, Curator of Lifu Museum guided the tour at the Museum. Finally, Director Lu pointed out that if both parties would have more academic exchanges, better results will be expected.
