On 25th, Mr. Wen-Hwa Lee’s researching team published their latest achievement, proving tumor‐draining LNs (TDLNs) play a significant role in modulating the malignancy of cancer cells for distant metastasis. This ground-breaking accomplishment has given a more definite direction in the treatment of breast cancer.

Furthermore, the research team also discovered that adipocytes promote malignant growth of breast tumours with monocarboxylate transporter 2 (MCT 2) expression via β-hydroxybutyrate. Therefore, targeting treatment on MCT 2 has flashed a new hope in future breast cancer therapy.

On 25th, Mr.Wen-Hwa Lee and his outstanding researching partners including Professor King-Jen Chang, Dr Chiun-Sheng Huang and Dr Wen-Hong Kuo announced their achievement on Academia Sinica. Both studies of Adipocytes promote malignant growth of breast tumours with monocarboxylate transporter 2 expression via β-hydroxybutyrate] and [TGF‐β1 secreted by Tregs in lymph nodes promotes breast cancer malignancy via up‐regulation of IL‐17RB] were published on both EMBO Molecular Medicine and Nature Communications magazines.

Mr. Wen-Hwa Lee stated that emerging evidence indicates that the tumour microenvironment plays a vital role in the initiation and progression of many cancers. This accomplishment is a tour de force as improving diagnosis or innovative therapeutic strategies may be revealed.
