China Medical University, Taiwan, Ranks World TOP 500 in 2012 "Academic Ranking of World Universities"
The Center for World-Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University released the 10th edition of its annual global university ranking on 15th August. Due to the dedication of all the faculties, China Medical University (CMU) for the first time ranks top 500 in "Academic Ranking of World Universities" with other top universities in Taiwan, including National Taiwan University, National Cheng Kung University, National Tsing Hua University, Chang Gung University, National Chiao Tung University, National Central University, National Sun Yat-Sen University, and National Yang Ming University. CMU is the only university in central Taiwan to rank top 500. Moreover, in the field of Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy, the ranking of CMU even reaches the top 200, in which only three Taiwan universities are enlisted.
For the past few years, China Medical University has impressed the public with several remarkable achievements. Since 2006, CMU has been awarded with consecutive Teaching Excellence Grants by the Ministry of Education, ranking highest among medical universities in Taiwan based on student population. In the fiscal year of 2011-2012, CMU even ranks the top one nationwide. In addition, the School of Medicine successfully passed the accreditation by the Taiwan Medical Accreditation Council (TMAC) and was rewarded with an exemption for the next 7 years. In 2010, owing to implementation of the mini-CEX clinical procedure, China Medical University received the recognition of National Human Power Innovation Award by the Council of Labor Affairs, Executive Yuan. Step by step, CMU develops to become one of the best universities in the world, and its mission is not only to strive for excellence in teaching and research on campus, but also to innovate healing methods and products, and to promote health off campus.
