Introduction

Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, is a not-for-profit, comprehensive, private university in Malaysia. UTAR is one of the most prestigious private universities in Malaysia, ranked top 100 in Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2018, ranked 2nd in Malaysia after University of Malaya. It was established in June 2002 under a foundation called UTAR Education Foundation, a non-profit organisation. The university consists of 9 faculties, 3 institutes, 3 centres and 28 research centres. The university has two campuses, Sungai Long Campus, which is located within the Klang Valley while the other is award-winning Kampar Campus located in the state of Perak, which once was renowned for its tin-mining activities. In June 2015, Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur campuses have moved to Sungai Long campuses. UTAR admitted 411 students in June 2002 for its first intake. The university's student population grew rapidly over the years. According to one of the university's publication, it now has a student enrollment of more than 26,000 students. For a start, the university offered only eight honors degree programs but the university now offers more than 110 programs, including foundation, undergraduate as well as postgraduate degree programs covering numerous disciplines of study and research.
